Workbook for Exploring The Sonic Cosmologies of Halim El-Dabh was Leo Asemota’s contribution to curator Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung’s lead to ‘Canine Wisdom for The Barking Dog - The Dog Done Gone Deaf’. Asemota’s Workbook comprised material that included reading matter, newspaper clipping, poster, works on paper, notations and a libretto for musical works: ‘Halim El-Dabh Is Dead, Long Live Halim El-Dabh’ and ‘A Note To Halim El-Dabh’.

“A Note To Halim El-Dabh” was performed by Agathe Faye on the exhibition’s opening night.

Asemota also staged a vocalization adapted from Georges Delerue and Halim El-Dabh – ‘Here history began’. Titled ‘Dakar Section: The Sphinx Recalls’, the work was presented at the Goethe-Institut, Point E, Dakar and was performed by Jonas Tinius and Kelvin Haizel.
